Bushikan Aikido's kimaza
Seagal Sensei and Sinclair Sensei

Instructors

Greg Sinclair has always been a passionate student of the martial arts.

As a youth he began martial arts under the study of several different striking arts. It was not until 1992 that he settled into Aikido under Lou Perriello Sensei in Chelmsford Massachusetts. Over the years he trained under Kathy Fitzgibbon Sensei and was awarded Shodan under John Dore Sensei.

In 2009 Sinclair Sensei became a direct, private student of Steven Seagal Shihan, who had a tremendous impact on Sinclair Sensei's Aikido. Over the next few years Seagal Shihan reshaped Sinclair Sensei's technique, approach and understanding of Aikido and the martial arts. While never aspiring to be an instructor in Aikido, after just their first training session, Seagal Shihan assigned Sinclair the role of Sensei. Those years set the path for Sinclair Sensei and Bushikan Aikido. Although no longer a student under Seagal Shihan, Sinclair Sensei still bases his Aikido on what he learned under the tutelage of this Master.

In 2015 The Independent Martial Arts Association - International promoted Sinclair Sensei to Rokudan (6th degree black belt), made him the Ambassador to the U.S. and granted him the title of Shihan. He currently leads the development of Aikido in the United States and teaches all over the world.

Sinclair Shihan has developed a distinctive approach to teaching and using Aikido in a martial way. He has combined all his skill into developing an Aikido that can be used offensively, defensively or in counter striking. He is an exceptional teacher and innovator of the art. For a form of martial art that can seem so severe, classes are upbeat, passionate, inspiring, fun and enlightening.

Tanmoy Ganguly Sensei
Tanmoy Ganguly Sensei, Dojo Cho Chelmsford MA.

Tanmoy Ganguly started his aikido training in Sept 2011 under Kathy Fitzgibbon Sensei in Mill City Aikido, Westford

He became a student of Greg Sinclair Shihan of Bushikan Aikido, Westford in 2013 and was awarded Shodan and Nidan ranks in 2016 and 2018 respectively under him.

During this time, he has also studied Tameshigiri under Josh Hatcher Sensei of Aikido of Bristol County, New Bedford. Tanmoy Ganguly is currently the dojo Cho of Bushikan Aikido in Chelmsford MA.

John Chipman Sensei
John Chipman Sensei, Yondan, Dojo Cho Manchester CT.

John began his martial arts journey back in 1986 as a student of an Okinawan karate system called Uechi-Ryu. He did this until 1992. But it was during the late '80's after seeing Aikido displayed for the first time in film by Steven Seagal that sparked his life long passion.

Aikido dojos during this time were difficult to find, especially ones that taught a more functional form. In 1998 Chipman joined Aikido under Ralph Chiaradia Sensei in CT. In 2001, John left to study Aikido at West Hartford Aikikai under Richard Judd. From 2012-2016, he attended Greater Hartford Aikido under Michael Sheahon Shihan.

It was in 2017 after discovering Greg Sinclair Shihan at Bushikan Aikido, Chipman found exactly what he had been after. Chipman Sensei is a proud affiliate and Dojo Cho of Bushikan Aikido in Manchester CT.
